How did it all begin?

The Miss Asia Arizona Pageant began in November 2002. Founder, Gene Flores, Owner and Producer of CityHits Production had a vision of uniting the growing Asian/Pacific Islander community in Arizona, create an event that will serve as a platform for a nobler cause and to promote its objectives. As an entertainer and former Mr. Asia of California he has the “passion” of sharing his skills, talent, creativeness, mentoring and helping people to achieve their dreams and making it into a reality.

Our objective has defined Asian women in Arizona with a sense of purpose and contribution to the growing community and to challenge conventional notions of beauty, culture, intelligence and by emphasizing not merely on appearance but also beauty that radiates within. Beauty and intelligence make these Asian women of Arizona leaders in a forum with a voice to be heard and to be shared.

The pageant will be held as a yearly gathering where beauties all over Arizona stand side by side with each other with a common goal and that is to be of vital contribution to humanity!

The goal of the Miss Asia Arizona Pageant is to showcase young Asian women in a high quality production that will best represent their Asian culture, beauty, intelligence and talent. The candidates will have an opportunity to develop personal growth, leadership, self-esteem, friendships, teamwork or other invaluable experiences that will be beneficial to them. Most importantly, the candidate will further develop their self-confidence to a level where they can challenge themselves to achieve those goals with diligence, grace, intellect and style.

The Miss Asia Arizona Pageant’s success is not only because of the wonderfully talented candidates who participate in the competition, but also because of the endless support from volunteers and members of the community. The dedicated volunteers give their time, expertise, creativity and enthusiasm to produce outstanding shows; while in return, they come away with new friendships, skills and fun memorable moments. The pageant also depends on the community support as a vital factor towards the financial stability of the overall pageant. The financial support provides for the production of their exceptional shows, donations to charitable causes, and also towards the awards for the Queen and her court.

Miss Asia Arizona Pageant displays the rich ethnic diversity of our society and gives us a glimpse of the many different cultures that surround us today. This pageant encourages young aspiring Asian women of Arizona to reach new heights and to work hard to make their dreams into reality. The pageant committee members hope that the candidates will learn from this experience and use it as a stepping-stone to future leadership roles and help them quintessential role models for the growing Asian community in the state of Arizona.

The Miss Asia Arizona Pageant accepts candidates who claim ancestry from the countries of:

Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, East Timor, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Macao, South Korea, North Korea (with valid refugee status and US residency), Japan, Mainland China, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Yemen, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, the ethnic Asian groups of the former Soviet Union, and the islands of the Pacific and Indian oceans. Qualifications to be a MISS ASIA ARIZONA Contestant

Must be female from birth, between the ages of 17 and 28
Must be at least 1/4 of the origin ancestry from the Asian continent, the islands of the Pacific and Indian oceans
Must be single, never married and never had children
Must be a legal resident of Arizona
No height requirement - good moral character, pleasing personality and great physical condition
